Why I'm calling Griffin, Joe Frazier

On Tuesday my son, Griffin, left for school excited about the 100th day of school. His kindergarten class was going to have a party, they brought in 100 small food items to snack on. To him this was a big deal. Pretty much anytime you add food into the equation the event becomes important. What can I say the boy loves to eat, even though you can see his ribs.

Well on the bus one of his 1st grade buddies decided that Friday was the 100th day of school and NOT Tuesday. Griffin and this little fellow argued for a while and Grif started getting angry. So angry that he punched the boy in the nose, bloodying the other little boy's nose. I found out when the principal called and said that Griffin was kicked off the bus for 3 days. Yes, my sweet little kindergartener got the boot. I hate that this happened and that my son punched his little buddy. The principal made Griffin apologize and we took away his computer and gaming privileges for 3 days as well.

I feel responsible though. You see earlier this year Griffin got beat up on the bus by another kindergartener. Griffin stepped off the bus red faced and crying that day. I told him that if someone ever punched him, he should punch them in the nose. Only if someone hit him first. "Never start a fight", "Only to defend yourself" are things I told him. We talked about it for a while and I thought he understood. I guess not.

It's so tough for a 6 year old boy to balance, be nice to everyone with, defend yourself. I guess that's why he needs parents. Boys are wired differently than my girls. They never got into fights and Griffin has already had a couple. (all on the bus) Don't get me wrong, I want him to be a boy and all that means. At times like this it was easier dealing with girls.
